My ODMS R8 Trial Has Ended What Licence Do I Need?
ODMS R8 comes in two distinct modules. Dictation Module (DM) and Transcription Module (TM). When you run ODMS R8 in trial mode you will get a warning on how many days you have left in your trial.
OM System ODMS R8 licence keys are a physical product, customers used to Olympus licences will recognise the green square piece of paper that licence keys traditionally look like, they are the size of an old school CD (Compact Disk) case. Dictate Australia stores the physical licence key and makes it available via our website as an instant electronic key, when you buy a licence it will be issued instantly ready for you to use.
We recommend buying a licence key before the end of your trial period. Entering a licence key is simply entered via the ODMS R8 software itslef by going to Help and then About where a link is shown, along with the module and version, for you to click a and enter your full licence key.
The Dictation Module is used by dictation authors and helps automate the download and distribution of dictation audio from a physical dictaphone or via a connected microphone. The Dictation Module is also used t configure compatible OM System and legacy Olympus digital dictaphones. The Dictation Module can not be used for transcription.

The Transcription Module is used by transcription typists and helps automate the receipt and load of dictation audio from email, shared drives and FTP servers. Audio playback can be controlled by either a compatible OM System or legacy Olympus transcription typing foot pedal or by using keyboard hot keys to manage audio stop/play/rewind while listening and transcribing.

ODMS R8 is a Perpetual Single Install Licence
The OM System licence model is perpetual meaning you are entitled to free updates during the life of the major version, being version 8. The ODMS R8 licence is a single install licence, meaning that each computer that ODMS R8 is installed on requires its own unique licence key. An upgrade licence is available only for users who already own an Olympus ODMS R7 licence key. Customers with older Olympus ODMS R6 or DSS Player Pro R5 licence keys will need to buy a new full ODMS R8 Dictation Module (DM) or Transcription Module (TM) licence key.
You can tell if you own an ODMS R7 licence key by running your existing Olympus software on your computer and going to Help and then About. This will show you both the module installed, Dictation or Transcription, the version and the licence key that was originally used to install the software.
Licence keys for the various versions of the ODMS software are typically five blocks of number and letter combinations. You can tell the version and module of the software licence you own by the first three character of your licence key:

++ If you own one of these licence keys, the software is long out of support and you would need to replace your software with a full ODMS R8 licence. Ensure you buy the correct module licence key and refer to the OM System Compatibility Chart to ensure your hardware is still supported.
Both modules can be integrated with a Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice profile to automate speech to text requiring the typist or the author to then just proofread and format the output, this can be up to 3 times faster than traditional transcription. Dragon NaturallySpeaking is sold separately.
