How to install ODMS Desktop when Microsoft Store is not an option

The ODMS Desktop application, provided free from OM System for transcription typists on Windows, to transcribe audio is typically installed from the Microsoft Store. ODMS Desktop is the only way transcriptionists can play ODMS Cloud dictations.

But, what if you work for a larger corporate or enterprise business where access to Microsoft Store is denied?

OM System (Olympus) offer a couple of options that are worth a try before you call your IT helpdesk. Note, only try this if you urgently need access to dictation audio that needs to be transcribed. IT will still need to be engaged if you have many typists, one of the options shown in our video below will resonate with them as a way to deploy the application package.

Both options are detailed on the official OM System webpage "ODMS Cloud - The Desktop App - Installation and Operating System Requirements".

  • Option 1. Download the ODMS Desktop msix installer package and run on your local PC to install.
  • Option 2. Use the Windows command winget to pull and install the ODMS Desktop application.
